Sunrise at the Pier

The first song in the jazz trilogy “A City That Was Suite” by David Biagini. San Francisco’s Fillmore District was a happening place during the 1940s and 1950s. Billie Holiday, Dexter Gordon, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane all performed at clubs in the Fillmore earning it the nickname “Harlem of the West”. My jazz suite “A City That Was” pays tribute to San Francisco’s rich jazz history. “Sunrise at the Pier” captures the promise of a new day.
